7th July 2026

Dear Walnut Creek School District Community,

I am honored to begin serving as the Superintendent of Walnut Creek School District. This opportunity is both professionally and personally meaningful to me. My family and I have been fortunate to call Walnut Creek home for nearly three decades, and it is a privilege to serve this community. What has always stood out to me about Walnut Creek is the way people come together to support children. There is a shared belief that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and that commitment is reflected in our schools, our families, and throughout the Walnut Creek community.

I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for selecting me to serve Walnut Creek School District. I immediately appreciated the Board's steadfast commitment to students, their respect for our exceptional staff, and their deep care for the entire Walnut Creek community. It was clear that every conversation and every decision began with one question: What is best for our students? I look forward to partnering with the Board as we continue building on the district's strong tradition of excellence.

Throughout my career, I have been guided by a simple belief: every child deserves to be known by name, by need, and by strength. When students are truly known, they are more likely to feel valued, challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Great schools are places where every child experiences a true sense of belonging and where families are valued as essential partners in their child's success.

One of the things that impressed me most throughout the selection process was the remarkable people who serve this district. I was struck by the passion, professionalism, and care demonstrated by staff across every role. It was immediately clear that this district is home to outstanding educators and professionals who put students first every day. Thank you for all you do. I am excited and humbled to join your team.

I am also grateful for the opportunity to build upon Superintendent Marie Morgan's outstanding leadership and service to Walnut Creek School District. Through her vision, dedication, and steadfast leadership, she has guided the district through years of growth and success. She leaves a strong foundation, and I deeply appreciate the positive impact she has made on students, staff, families, and the Walnut Creek community.
As your Superintendent, I am committed to listening, learning, and leading with purpose. During my first months, my priority is simple: to get to know our students, staff, families, and schools. You will see me in classrooms, at school events, and across the district because I believe relationships come before initiatives. I want to hear what you value most, learn what makes Walnut Creek special, and better understand where we have opportunities to grow together. I believe the best decisions begin with listening, and I look forward to building strong relationships as we continue creating outstanding opportunities for every student.

Thank you for the warm welcome my family and I have already received. It is an honor to serve alongside you, and I look forward to all we will accomplish together on behalf of the children of Walnut Creek.

With gratitude,
Jon Campopiano
